Masterclasses and clinics

For music schools, instrument shops, festivals and events.

Rudy Mariani at the kit in front of the audience of an open-air night

A good clinic sends you out of the room with your eyes lit up. I have seen many like that, and I have organised a few too: I brought Gerald Heyward's first Italian tour over myself, I worked on the organisation for Thomas Lang, and for years I have been backstage at the Drum Gala.

Then the next day arrives. You sit down at the kit, and those three questions come back: what should I do, when should I do it, why should I do it.

My clinics try to leave something there. Not instead of the wonder: after it. Something you can put on the instrument the following morning, whatever your level.

I have done some already, and now I want to do more of them.

How I prepare it

Before telling you what I bring, I ask who is in the room. How many, what level, whether they come to learn or to have a good evening. From there we build the angle together: twenty students at a school and a hundred people at a festival are two different nights.

What we can do

  • Masterclasses for music schools and academies
  • Clinics for instrument shops, trade fairs and festivals
  • Showcases, when the playing matters more than the talking
  • Length and format built around the room you have
  • If needed, I take care of audio and lighting too

What I need from you

  • Date, place and how much time we have
  • How many people you expect and what level they are
  • What kind of evening it is: educational, promotional, or both
